BUILDING RAW MATERIAL TESTS:

• Evaluation of building raw material quarries (such as clays, sand, gravel, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, granite, marble. etc.) for utilization in various building industries. This evaluation is done through different lab. Tests such as mineralogical composition by using X-ray and polarizing microscope – grain size analysis – plasticity – differential thermal and mechanical analyses – physical and mechanical properties such as soluble salts, content of oxides, Alkali-silica and Alkali-Carbonate reactions for aggregate.
• Lab. Tests for building materials.
  • Chemical composition of cement.
  • Percentage of cement in concrete or mortar.
  • Resistance of steel against corrosion in different media and in concrete.
  • Determination of carbonate content, heat of reaction workability of lime. Determination of physical and chemical properties for anhydrite.
  • Chemical analysis of water.
  • Lab. Studies on chemical and mineralogical admixtures as well 3-as adhesive in materials and their effect on the final product.
• The department can offer the various consultations regarding to sources of building raw materials; building material industry in addition to improvement and/or sharing any problems attached to building materials.
