The Architecture & Housing Research Institute is one of the prestigious institutes of the Housing and Building National Research Center. The Institute's work fields are numerous and related to architectural design, urban design and planning, housing, community development, environment and sustainable development. Among the most important specializations included in the institute are the study of the foundations of building design and evaluation of their functional performance, the foundations of planning and design of housing projects, economic, environmental and social studies and the cultural dimensions associated with them, the study of the foundations of participatory planning, design and development of communities, conducting architectural and urban character studies and the foundations of urban design and coordination of sites appropriate to local environments. Conducting applied studies to plan, manage and implement urban development projects in rural and urban areas. It also includes conducting applied studies for projects to develop and improve the urban and social environment in heritage areas and the rehabilitation of slum areas. Conducting applied research on the laws, legislation, and economics of buildings and urban complexes, in addition to using geographic information systems applications in the areas of urbanization and related studies. Conduct applied research in the field of sustainable development, environmental sustainability, and green building evaluation. Conducting studies and research in the field of smart cities and quality of life.
